Dusk Hedges, a Wanaka-based horticulture business specialising in premium mature hedging plants designed to create immediate landscaping impact. The company works with developers, landscape designers, landscapers, builders and homeowners who want instant privacy, structure and aesthetic value for their projects. 

Due to continued growth, Dusk Hedges is now seeking a sales manager to drive revenue and expand market presence primarily across Central Otago and the Queenstown Lakes region. 

This is a newly created senior role reporting directly to the Dusk Managing Director, responsible for developing new business opportunities while growing relationships with key industry partners. 

The Role 

The primary focus of this role will be commercial sales across the Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes region, with a secondary focus across Canterbury, Otago and Southland. Approximately 60% of the role will involve working with developers, builders, architects, landscapers and councils, with the remaining 40% focused on residential opportunities. 

This is a hands-on business development role where the successful candidate will actively build relationships, identify opportunities and grow sales across the region. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop relationships with developers, builders, landscapers and architects 
  • Identify new opportunities across commercial landscaping and development projects 
  • Generate and convert sales opportunities across Central Otago, Queenstown Lakes and Canterbury, Otago and Southland 
  • Maintain and grow existing customer relationships 
  • Support marketing initiatives to increase brand awareness and lead generation 
  • Prepare monthly reports on sales activity and performance 
  • Work closely with the Nursery Manager to align production with market demand 

 

About You 

We are seeking a commercially driven individual who is comfortable building relationships and generating business in a regional market. 

A background in horticulture, landscaping or rural industries would be advantageous, although strong B2B sales experience within related sectors will also be considered. 

You may bring experience from areas such as landscaping supply, construction materials, horticulture, rural services or outdoor products. 

Ideal attributes include: 

  • Proven ability to generate and grow sales 
  • Strong relationship-building skills with industry stakeholders 
  • Comfortable operating independently in a regional market 
  • Existing networks with builders, architects, landscapers or developers highly regarded 
  • Commercially minded with the ability to identify new opportunities 
  • Understanding of the Central Otago market and community 
  • Self-driven with the ability to generate opportunities and convert leads 
  • Has experience with CRM software
